On 23 and 24 October 2024, the WorldSkills Piemonte competition, a nationwide event celebrating excellence in technical and professional trades, took place at the prestigious Lingotto Fiere in Turin. We are proud to announce that two former ITS Biomedical students, Riccardo Dallevi and Matteo Dionigi Letizia, triumphed in the integrated robotic systems category, winning the gold medal.

The 16-hour competition tested the participants with a complex task: the realisation of a robotic island for filling bottles with liquid soap. The challenge was not only technical, but required the utmost rigour in implementing each specific step required: sanitising the bottles at a passing station, dispensing a precise amount of liquid soap into them, rearranging the filled bottles according to a predefined layout and, finally, accurately applying the cap. Everything had to be done in the shortest possible cycle time, implementing a series of optimisations programmed to maximise efficiency and precision.

This important result was possible thanks to the collaboration with Ideativa Srl and the experience of Erik Zaccaria, a former ITS Biomedical student and current employee of Ideativa Srl, who trained and prepared Riccardo and Matteo to face the complexity of the project with competence and determination.

With this victory, our former students have qualified to represent Italy at the European ‘Euroskills 2025’ championships in Denmark, where they will showcase, on an international stage, the excellence of our technical training and the innovation that characterises the collaboration between ITS and Ideativa Srl.

Congratulations to Riccardo, Matteo and Erik for this prestigious result. Next stop: Denmark!
